Browning Superposed 12 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun – 1956 Belgian 2-Barrel Set

The Browning Superposed Over/Under Shotgun is one of the most iconic sporting shotguns ever produced. Designed by John Moses Browning and manufactured by FN in Belgium, the Superposed represented the final firearm design from Browning himself and remains highly regarded among collectors and shooters alike.

This particular example was manufactured in 1956 and features the classic Grade I engraved receiver with gold-washed single trigger and selective manual safety. The shotgun includes two matching factory barrel sets, making it an exceptionally versatile sporting firearm. The 30-inch barrel set is choked Full over Improved Modified with 3-inch chambers, ideal for waterfowl or longer-range shooting. The 26½-inch barrel set is choked Improved Cylinder over Cylinder with 2¾-inch chambers, better suited for upland hunting or clay targets.

The shotgun retains nearly all of its original factory blue finish, with only light freckling and handling wear consistent with age. The checkered walnut stock and matching forends show light field marks but remain very attractive. The gun includes the original Browning factory Naugahyde two-barrel hard case with matching end label, adding collector appeal. With bright bores, fine mechanical function, and its original configuration, this vintage Belgian Superposed represents both a collectible shotgun and a practical field gun.
